As soon as I saw these fierce little numbers staring back at me from the Macy’s shoe department, I knew that I couldn’t leave without them.
I love wearing these flats with skinny jeans and a simple top. These are a fabulous statement piece (you definitely can’t miss them) that are surprisingly comfortable.
Before we find ourselves in the middle of a full-on major crab shortage, my friends and I are gathering for an amazing feast in Bethesda this weekend. It’s supposed to be sunny and hot…bring on the old bay, butter and good times.
This casual afternoon get together calls for cutoffs, a great tee and some fun jewels.

I’ve always been inspired by the iconic banana leaf wallpaper made famous by the Beverly Hills Hotel. I love seeing how the print translates into fabric used on these Charlotte Olympia sandals (just wait until you see the platform wedges…and they’re both on sale!).
After seeing these shoes on the brand’s website, I began to stumble upon a lot of palm (and banana leaf) print clothing and accessories. Here are just a few of my favorites. These all make me feel like packing a beach bag and jetting off to a tropical locale immediately.

When I saw these positively stunning pants pop up on my computer screen I immediately thought the print and style were so perfect for summer (the wide leg design lets our limbs breathe in this crazy hot weather). I can already imagine them paired with my favorite vintage tees.
The pants are just one of the many amazing pieces from Australian designer Kym Ellery, who launched her line Ellery in 2007 (btw…I’m so excited to see such fabulous designers coming out of AU lately).

Pencil skirts have become my signature item for work this summer. (Carine Roitfeld, one of my style icons, has been inspiring me a lot these days).
Pencil skirts are a classic piece that you can dress up or down. As I mentioned in a previous post, I’ve become slightly obsessed with the J.Crew No.2 pencil skirt. They are available in an endless amount of colors and patterns and include a slight stretch in the cotton, which allows for a great fit. I love to pair this one with my favorite white t-shirts and accessorize with incredibly fun shoes.

What I wouldn’t give to be sitting poolside (or on the beach) with a great book right now (I just went to Jill Kargman’s book signing of The Rock Star in Seat 3A and I can’t wait to get my read on). Instead, I’m in the office counting down the days until my next summer vaca (only a few short weeks away…thank goodness). Until then, I’m dreaming about the swimwear I’d love to be lounging around in.
Mara Hoffman’s colorful prints have certainly caught my eye. And don’t sleep on Target. They have some really great, affordable swimsuits and coverups.

I bought this Geren Ford maxi dress off of Gilt Groupe a few months ago (it was a steal!). It’s the perfect summer dress for brunch in DC or for a stroll around my favorite beach town.
When it comes to clothing I like things simple, so I can go crazy with accessories. The color and design of this maxi dress makes it the perfect canvas for any color accoutrement (last week peach jewels, next week yellow…or maybe red).
I was waiting and waiting until the weather was nice enough to jump into this dress. I finally had a chance to wear it to dinner over Memorial Day weekend in Greenport and I can’t wait to wear it again. I have a feeling this maxi dress will be one of my summer staples.

That’s So Fabulous Friday is back. Since it has been a few weeks, I thought I’d share something extra fab.
Ever since I set eyes on this Roksanda Ilincic dress I haven’t stopped thinking about the sleeves, oh the lantern sleeves. The look is so unique and classy. I’m ready to start installing these sleeves on every dress I own (okay, maybe that’s taking it a little too far, but seriously…this is fabulous).
I received my first crossbody bag for Christmas in 2009. It was a beautiful Tory Burch bag with studs (I still use all the time). I think…no, I know it changed my commuting life. Finally, my hands were free. I could read a book, carry my Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and hold onto the subway railing all at the same time…GENIUS.
From that moment on, I’ve been a champion of crossbody bags. In fact, I just bought a Rebecca Minkoff Mini M.A.C. to add to my growing collection. How else am I supposed to carry all those shopping bags on the metro, especially in this hot and humid weather in DC??

I just returned from a week-long trip to LA for work. I traveled here in 2006 and wasn’t really feeling it, so I was super excited to get back to LA and give it a second chance. It took all of about a minute for the city to fall back into my good graces. I stepped off the plane at LAX and I knew, immediately, it was love.
Now, I didn’t have time to explore the entire city (I’ll be back for that for sure), but the design of my hotel interior (The Standard Downtown LA) was enough to launch my mind into inspiration overload (I’m all of a sudden wanting to buy up grey and yellow frocks and baubles).

It’s been a busy few weeks (I’m talking very busy) and I feel horrible for leaving you guys hanging.
This past weekend, I was so thankful to have the chance to travel out to Greenport, New York for Memorial Day festivities. Greenport is situated on the North Fork of Long Island and is chock-full of vineyards and great restaurants. It’s one of my favorite little towns.
I was so excited to enjoy some quality time with my besties, sit by the pool and eat lots of lobster rolls. I had been counting down the days to this little vaca since I can remember.

I’m always on the lookout for a great t-shirt, but many fall short of my expectations. I’m very picky…they must be long, they must be comfortable and they must not shrink after the first wash (grr…this happens way too much).
It doesn’t sound like a lot, but I don’t often come across a t-shirt that covers all three of my needs…until I tried out the J.Crew Vintage tee (worn and washed numerous times). I started with white one and have been back to the store twice for more colors. These are fabulous and oh, so comfortable!

Whip out the cowboy boots and mix up the margs, it’s time to fly to Texas to celebrate the nuptials of one of my favorite friends (oh, and let’s not forget Cinco de Mayo). Tomorrow, I’m traveling to Dallas and then jumping in a car with friends for a little road trip to Waxahachie.
I can’t wait to pick up some fun accoutrements from Pistols & Pearls (a magical store apparently situated next to the biggest gas station in the state) on our way.

My friends can attest to the fact that my day of birth is probably one of my favorite holidays (more than Christmas). It usually involves bubbles (or margs), cake (last year Crumbs, this year Georgetown), a gathering of great friends and a certain birthday dance (a skip and a hop).
Today, I was reminiscing about birthdays past and realized I’ve never (never, ever) treated myself to anything on my birthday (yes, you read correctly…yes, I know, that is just crazy talk). Have you?
Well, I decided I’ve worked hard this year and I deserve a little treat. I put together a little birthday wish list and picked one item to gift myself (the rest will just have to wait). I finally settled on the most fabulous pair of shoes.
These little works of art are from Korean designer Bohyun Lee. This particular pair, by Lee’s brand Suecomma Bonnie, is sold by Shopbop as part of their ONE by Boutique. Major snaps to Lee for making such unique shoes (and they’re comfortable, too!). Stay tuned for some outfit posts (part of my New Year’s resolutions). These are sure to make many appearances.
